When a sport have become a bait for bilateral relations..

This is the time when cricket fans are glued to the TV sets. Indo-Pak series is not only a feast for sub-continent cricket lovers but also the entire world eyes on it. Often compared to the "Ashes" matches between the two have been a center of attraction for the media,people,sports-persons and others.

From the first International match in 1952, between India - Pak there were many tussles in bilateral relations. This effect was directly on the sports. Leaving behind the result of the on-going tour of Pakistan in India let us concentrate on the facts behind it. After the Kargil war in 1972, there were no tours held between the two countries. It was in 1978, when India tour of Pak after 26 years under the captaincy of Bishen Singh Bedi. After the recent 26/11 attacks in Mumbai bilateral relations suffered a lot thereby cricket was affected.

As the time passed and due to the pressure from other peace organisations slowly BCCI organised a series between India and Pakistan as the only way to improve bilateral relations is through "cricket." In a country where cricket is a religion and in the other country where cricket is the chief sport there have been a continuous effect of the political understandings.

Considering the matches between the two from the history "cricket" was made a bait between two nations which created much hype and grabbed attraction of the world. Now it can be said that
"cricket in their management" where management is the political influence. I feel cricket or any other sport should be exempted from political issues.
